Are the benefits of massage applicable to anyone? In
other words, will massage benefit anybody, regardless of medical or physical
condition?
Massage can help in most pain conditions as long as they are soft tissue
related. This means muscle or tendon conditions. It is always best to consult
your doctor if you have any unusual condition that has complications. Top
Are you able to target the areas of the musculature
that need the most attention?
Of course. If you want just a part of your, back lets say, worked on I
can focus the whole massage around that problem area. Generally this would
be more treatment oriented and not very relaxing but it can be done. It
is all up to you. Top
How long does a typical session take?
I try to book hour appointments. Some people don't have an hour to spare
but need to get in, so in this case I can go to 30 minutes for those who
have a more hectic schedule. Some like a longer session. In this case
I can take it for 90 minutes. Top
Does it hurt?
Sometimes the massage can be uncomfortable. I try not to push discomfort
on my clients if at all possible. If there is a certain technique that
has to be done, I make sure that my client knows what is going to happen
and then I let them have control over the pressure that I use on them.
I like to use a pain scale of 1 - 10 (with 1 being no pain and 10 being
excruciating); in the scale I like them to be at a 5 - 6 for these techniques
to work. For the most part massage is painless. Top
What types of massage do you perform in your practice?
I use Swedish, On-Site,
Relaxation, Treatment
and Sports Massage together for wonderful blend
of sensations that I feel give my massage a very unique feel. Top
What are the costs involved?
Please visit my rates page for all pricing. Top
Do you perform "Massage Therapy?"
Yes I am the massage therapist. Top
Does one need to undergo massage on a regular basis
to obtain benefit?
This depends on what the person is coming in for. If you are coming in
for pain, then yes. (please go to the healing section under "massages"
for more information). If it is for relaxation, then no. Top
Could my medical insurance cover the costs?
This all depends on your individual plan. I do accept Auto and L&I
insurance. Top
Where Will My Massage or Bodywork Session Take Place?
Your massage session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room.
Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially
designed for your comfort. Top
Must I Be Completely Undressed?
Most massage is traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however,
you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own
comfort. You will be properly covered during the session. With the sports
and on-site massages you are fully clothed. Top
Will the Practitioner Be Present When I Disrobe?
I will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover
yourself with a clean sheet. I allow a few minutes before I return from
washing my hands to start the massage. Top
Will I Be Covered During the Session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable.
Only the area being worked on will be exposed. If at any time you feel
uncomfortable please tell me and I will either change what I am doing
or skip that part of the massage all together. Top
What Parts of My Body Will Be Massaged?
You and I will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will
determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body
session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head,
neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals
(male or female) or breasts (female). My massage is completely non-sexual.

Will Lubricant Be Used?
I use oil or lotion to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing
excessive friction to the skin. The lubricants used are made to hydrate
the skin and be readily absorbed. Top
What Should I Do During the Massage or Bodywork Session?
Make yourself comfortable. I will either gently move you or tell you what
is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people
just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during
their session. Feel free to ask me questions about massage and bodywork
in general or about anything you would like to talk about. Top
How Will I Feel After the Massage?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term
aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an
initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased
energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity that can last for
days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage,
it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage. Top
What Are the Benefits of Massage?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain,
improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical
fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue,
improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also
known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety,
and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are There Any Medical Conditions That Would Make Massage
or Bodywork Inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that before you begin your session, the
practitioner ask general health questions. It is very important that you
inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are
taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that
you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to
any session. Many practitioners may require a recommendation or approval
from your doctor. Top
What kind of training have you had and what certifications
do you hold?
I graduated from Brenneke School of Massage. I am Nationally certified
and a member of the A.M.T.A. Top
How long have you been practicing massage?
I have been in practice since 1998. Top
Do you give discounts for referring people?
Yes. I have a referral discount; for every 3 clients you send me, you
get a massage for FREE!!!! Top
What kind of payment do you accept? cash, check, credit
card?
I accept all three. Top
